The Pride march has become one of the unmissable events at the start of summer in Paris. Nicolas Pirat-Delbrayelle has not missed any since the 80s. “40 years ago, I walked for rights, with lesbians and homosexuals. Now, all the diversities are there”he confides.
Changing the way society looks
Over the years, the Pride march has provided visibility, which has helped change society’s view of LGBT people. The first steps were born in the early 80s in Paris, in a certain confidentiality. At the time, one of the main demands of the marches was the decriminalization of homosexuality. Today, parades are organized everywhere in France. Corsica had its first march in Bastia (Haute-Corse), Saturday June 17. A total of 87 Pride marches are organized in France in 2023.
