In Rustiques (Aude), a mayor has learned that school canteen prices will have to increase. For a meal, the ticket goes from 3.42 euros to 3.70 euros. This 8% increase is imposed by the supplier. “Everything therefore necessarily increases, it must have an impact on the school canteen”, says a mother whose son eats every day in the canteen. For her, this will not lead to hardship on other expenditure items, but she is thinking of families encountering financial difficulties.

In Blois (Loir-et-Cher), a chef notes that the bill is high. “For a total of 4,000 minced steaks, we have an amount of 5,141 euros, it is an increase of 20%”, notes David Juranville, chef at the Augustin Thierry high school. Some try to get supplies from local producers in order to keep a meal tray at 2.20 euros. According to the association of mayors of France, canteen prices should increase by 5% to 10% at the start of the school year.
