The price of medical consultations will increase by 1.50 euros before the end of the year

It will therefore reach a minimum of 26.50 euros for general practitioners and 31.50 euros for specialists.

A slight increase. The rates for medical consultations will increase by 1.50 euros before the end of the year, to reach a minimum of 26.50 euros for general practitioners and 31.50 euros for specialists. The “arbitral settlement” was presented Monday, April 24 to the unions of liberal doctors.

Two months after the failure of negotiations between doctors and Medicare, senior civil servant Annick Morel, appointed to find common ground between the two parties, therefore chose to resume the general increase proposed in beginning of the year by Social Security, at a cost of 600 million euros for a full year.

Once validated by the government, these revaluations will come into effect. “at the expiration of a period of six months”according to “arbitration rules” written by Annick Morel. Health Minister François Braun said in a statement that he “will approve[it] in the coming days” this text including “significant advances in improving the health of the French people”. The 5% to 6% increase in base tariffs should thus take place at the end of October or the beginning of November.

Recruitment of medical assistants planned

On the other hand, “no revaluation subject to a territorial commitment” was not retained. The unions had indeed braced themselves against this second price level (30 euros for general practitioners) reserved for practitioners accepting certain counterparties (taking more patients, doing night shifts, practicing in a medical desert, working on Saturdays Morning…).

The former inspector of social affairs, Annick Morel, has also drafted several measures dear to the executive. For “free up medical time”financial assistance for the recruitment of medical assistants will thus be “expanded and relaxed”. Emmanuel Macron has set a target of 10,000 jobs by the end of 2024, compared to just over 4,300 to date.

Unlike price increases, this decision will apply without delay, as will the creation of a new consultation at 60 euros for the acceptance of a chronic patient without a treating doctor. Here too, the Head of State promised that the 700,000 people in this situation would see themselves “propose a treating doctor before the end of the year”.

There is also no time limit for the “response to urgent and unscheduled care”. The arbitrator chose to “sustain” incentives for liberals who participate in the “regulation” Samu telephone service (100 euros per hour) and to receive patients within 48 hours (15 euros increase). These two key points are part of the “flash mission” implemented by François Braun upon his arrival at the ministry in the summer of 2022.
