Soaring material prices are driving up the bills for building professionals. “From floor to ceiling, everything is on fire. At roof level, +8.9% in one year for terracotta tiles, +9.2% for wooden frames”, explains journalist Nabila Tabouri, present on the set of 19/20, Monday, May 30. The structural work also increased by 10% in one year for earthworks.

The price of windows is the one that has increased the most, especially that of aluminum alloy windows, up 18% in one year. Sliding bay closures have increased by 27%. The increases correspond to the “beginning of the war in Ukraine, but the problem is that these increases come on top of those that the construction sector has already suffered”, continues the journalist. The professional organizations announce that they cannot pass on these increases to the constructions already launched.
