It looks like an enchanted parenthesis. For a summer, a Corsican village is the setting for reunions between the children of the country who have gone to live in the city or even on the continent and those who have always remained in the land of their ancestors.
These trajectories that collide during the long holidays form the plot of the film I Comet, directed by the Corsican Pascal Tagnati and which will be released in cinemas this Wednesday, April 20. All generations appear on the screen. This allows the viewer to identify with the village community.
Pascal Tagnati, who signs his first feature film here, wanted a film that speaks to Corsicans, to those who have lived this village life. “I usually say that I make films for myself and then I share them. I made this film here at home, so I imagine that a lot of Corsicans will feel familiar with certain situations , with characters, with a certain humor too”.
The cast mixes real inhabitants of a small Corsican village where the film was entirely shot and confirmed actors, including Jean-Christophe Folly and Cédric Apppietto. What offer an additional dose of authenticity to I Comet.
During a preview of the film in Ajaccio, locals said they found themselves through the characters of the film. “It traces the community, the friendship, the village life well when we find ourselves. In our village, we really have the impression of having lived that”confides a spectator of this preview.
If the images of Pascal Tagnatti are sometimes enchanting, all is not rosy in this Corsican village. Despite the sun, the mountains, the bursts of laughter, hidden wounds reappear and punctuate the summer daily life of families and groups of friends.
I Comet is to be seen in cinemas from Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
