The Press in Milwaukee | Trump received as a hero

(Milwaukee) Donald Trump caused a stir in Milwaukee Monday night when he made his first public appearance since the assassination attempt on his life.

Hours after choosing Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate, the former president appeared before delegates to the Republican National Convention who had formally nominated him as their presidential candidate earlier in the day.

As he ascended the steps to a grandstand with his right ear bandaged, convention delegates and guests gave him a triumphant welcome and began chanting, “USA! USA! USA!”

The crowd later took up the word repeated by Donald Trump after Saturday’s attack in Pennsylvania: “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

And she added in unison: “We love Trump! We love Trump!”

The former president responded to this welcome sometimes by smiling, sometimes by applauding, sometimes by raising his fist, sometimes by saying the word “thank you.”

He was joined on the podium by JD Vance, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, his son Donald Jr. and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, among others.

They listened together to the final speeches of an evening focused on the economy, including that of Teamsters President Sean O’Brien, who sparked controversy within his union by agreeing to address the Republican convention.

After weeks of speculation, Donald Trump has therefore chosen JD Vance over two other finalists, the Republican senator from Florida Marco Rubio and the Republican governor of North Dakota, Doug Burgum.
