The president of the Narbonne rugby club, Gilles Belzons, is accused of sexual violence against his 8-year-old son, reveals France Bleu Hérault on Monday March 7. After a first complaint closed without follow-up, a judicial investigation is opened. He denies the facts and accuses his ex-wife of manipulation.
After their son confided in her, Djemila filed a first complaint against her ex-husband in October 2020 for rape and sexual assault committed on their son between 2018 and 2020, after their separation. A preliminary investigation was opened and the child was heard seven times. He told the same attacks to a doctor on duty and to an emergency doctor at Lapeyronie hospital in Montpellier, who alerted the authorities. He did the same in front of the gendarmes of Carcassonne. But the Narbonne prosecution does not require any forensic expertise of the child.
The president of the rugby club, a notable from Narbonnais, warned a few days earlier, was placed in police custody in November 2020, but the public prosecutor asked that his computer and mobile phone not be seized, said learned France Bleu Hérault. Neither his home nor his workplace will be searched. The gendarmes still look in his phone and find searches for “young people” and “teens” on pornographic sites. After that, Gilles Belzons is released and the investigation is closed without further action.
“This preliminary investigation was botched”denounces the mother’s lawyer, Me Hayet Djefaflia, “the shortcomings of the file and the lack of impartiality of the magistrates given the notoriety of the defendant”. She believes that “This case perfectly illustrates the difficulties linked to incest and the lack of consideration of the word of the child”. After new confessions to a psychotherapist and a general practitioner, Djemila filed a new complaint with civil action in February 2021, which allowed the opening of a judicial investigation by an investigating judge. Gilles Belzons was placed under the status of assisted witness.
Contacted by France Bleu Hérault, the man claims his innocence, accuses his ex-wife of “defamation”ensures that the medical certificates provided by the mother are false, “certificates of convenience”, and affirms that Djemila does not accept that he has rebuilt his life. She denies these claims.
The child was placed in a foster family at the request of justice last December. The mother does not understand why justice wanted to take her son away from her. “They say that I am jealous and that I want his father’s money, he has nothing to do with it. I am the owner, I have two properties”she underlines, recalling that the Independent Commission on Incest has reminded us that we must believe children and listen to mothers because not doing so contributes to the invisibilization of sexual violence.
