The president of the LR deputies, Olivier Marleix, “does not adhere” to the proposal of the President of the National Assembly who wants a transpartisan bill to introduce a dose of proportionality in the legislative elections. Yaël Braun-Pivet wants to transmit this text to the Council of State by the summer. On franceinfo this Wednesday, Olivier Marleix believes that “proportionality does not meet this objective” representation of “the diversity of the French” within the National Assembly.

He claims “independence” deputies “with regard to political parties and owe their legitimacy only to the voters”. “The deputies must represent the French, not the political parties,” he asserts. Furthermore, Olivier Marleix says to himself “attached to the majority fact and to the fact that an elected president can have a majority.”
