“We will put in place a voluntary extra-legal benefit to compensate for the assistance that certain elderly people concerned would be deprived of”indicated Wednesday December 20 on franceinfo the president of the Seine-Saint-Denis department, Stéphane Troussel, while the 32 left-wing departments announced that they will not apply the tightening of payment conditions to foreigners of the Personalized autonomy allowance (APA) provided for by the new immigration law.

“On average, at the national level, the average age of people who receive APA is 82 years old”explained Stéphane Troussel. “What do the drafters of this law imagine? That people of this age cross the Mediterranean to receive this aid? It’s shameful. We cannot accept that in the French Republic”.

The president of Seine-Saint-Denis also explained that he felt “a lot of anger, even rage”. “I voted twice for Emmanuel Macron to block the far right. This text fractures our social contract by establishing a national preference”. “Perhaps the President of the Republic should decide not to promulgate this law”he finished.
