The President of the National Assembly has “rejoices“Monday, September 5 on France Inter of the launch this week of the National Council for Refoundation (CNR) by Emmanuel Macron. However“, Yaël Braun-Pivet wishes to temper: “In my place today (…) I am extremely vigilant about the principles on which our Republic is founded: the separation of powers and the role of Parliament.

Since he announced the creation of this body after being re-elected to the Elysée Palace, Emmanuel Macron has faced the crossfire of opposition. Both the right and the left denounce a CNR which would replace the role of Parliament. For her part, the President of the National Assembly indicates that ““you have to be very careful”. And this because, according to her, “Parliament is a place of democratic debate where all those who debate have been elected“So they have, adds Yaël Braun-Pivet, “a legitimacy to represent the French and to pass the law and control the action of the government“.

The President of the National Assembly recalls that parliamentarians have “a number of areas which are the exclusive domain of the law and therefore of Parliament“. That said, she joins the will of the President of the Republic by affirming that “public policy is not just about making the law. A public policy is (…) much broader than the law“. That’s why, concludes Yaël Braun-Pivet, “that in certain specific areas (…) we create forums for dialogue where parties that are not parliamentarians can discuss and develop solutions, I find that very good“.
