“We have been saying for decades that we are going to reach dramatic situations. We are there today”alerted Pierre Roux, the president of the Association of Directors Serving the Elderly (AD-PA), on Friday October 11 on franceinfo. On Monday, 13 organizations in the elderly sector sounded the alarm about the serious financial situation affecting their establishments and home autonomy services.

“It’s a huge sadness because it’s also a big waste for both the elderly and their families”was moved by Pierre Roux, who believes that there is “65-70% of establishments in deficit” with “increasingly numerous catastrophic situations”.

Among the reasons given by Pierre Roux, the “lack of resources”, “the Covid crisis”, “the Ukrainian crisis” as well as inflation. “Today, we can no longer respect the quality of life, care and support of residents, respect our employees, respect regulations and balance budgets”explained the president of the AD-PA.

Pierre Roux also expressed his wish to “meet the minister” of Solidarities, Paul Christophe, and request “help to save establishments and home services”. “So our expectations are very high”he concluded.
