“The first employer in Seine-Saint-Denis is drug trafficking”, launches Tuesday July 4 on France Inter the president of Medef Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux. He argues that “many people work informally in the underground economy”. For the boss of bosses, if working-class neighborhoods, and in particular the suburbs, are faced with “higher unemployment rate” that elsewhere, it is due in particular to “parallel economy”.

Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux recognizes, that said, that he “is more difficult, if only for transport issues, to find a job” in these neighborhoods and that there may be “probably cases of discrimination”. But he still maintains that the jobs are there. “All business leaders, in all sectors, try to recruit and sometimes without a diploma”assures the president of Medef, who quotes in particular “private security”. He also admits that “the vast majority of people create wealth and pay their taxes”. “The biggest damage of this period is to give the image that in the suburbs there are thugs”he adds.

The socialist president of the department of Seine-Saint-Denis Stéphane Troussel denounces on Twitter these “shameful remark”. Stéphane Troussel sees there “an insult against the inhabitants who work hard and against the companies mobilized for employment” in the departement. He accuses Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux of being part of a “disconnected elite” and invite “the next president of Medef to visit us”.
