The inhabitants of the commune of Chamborigaud, in the Gard, have no more drinking water since Wednesday May 25, for the second time in just two months. The mayor deplores the lack of transparency of the ARS.

In Chamborigaud (Gard), since Wednesday May 25, it is strongly advised not to use tap water. It is contaminated with pesticides. Since the inhabitants of the town and the surrounding area heard the news, the Régie des eaux d’Alès (Gard) has been distributing bottled water. The 2,500 concerned regret the lack of information on the subject. “We wonder what could have happened. Who did what, where did these pesticides come from? This is not an agricultural region“, commented a resident.

It is the river Luech which supplies the town with running water. The Regional Health Agency (ARS) discovered a pesticide, fenuron, banned since 2013. This is the second time in two months that such pollution has occurred. The mayor, Émile Corbier, believes that “the ARS suffers from the lack of direct communication with of the town halls“Contacted, the ARS did not respond to requests from France Télévisions.
