The Gard prefecture bans the Dieudonné show in Nîmes scheduled for Friday March 15, reports Thursday March 14 France Bleu Gard Lozère. Dieudonné “has been the subject of numerous criminal convictions, some of which are final, for comments of an anti-Semitic nature, which incite racial hatred and disregard the dignity of the human person”explains the prefecture.

The prefecture adds that “the quasi-clandestine organization of this show with communication of the venue a few hours before does not make it possible to ensure the conditions for preventing the disturbances to public order that can be expected for this performance”. An argument in reference to the fact that the location of this show had to be communicated by SMS only a few hours before the start.

On March 7, a Dieudonné show was also banned by the Haut-Rhin prefecture. On his website, the controversial 58-year-old comedian announced the holding of a performance entitled Under bracelet: an extraordinary spectacle Friday March 8. The one-man show was to be held within a radius of twenty kilometers around Colmar in a secret location and revealed a few hours before the start of the performance.

Orders have already been issued on several occasions in France to ban Dieudonné shows, notably in Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montpellier and Lyon.
