The prefect of the valleys Xavier Pelletier details the public consultation

15 months after the storm Alex which hit our valleys. The prefect for reconstruction, Xavier Pelletier, is launching the public and citizen consultation on France Bleu Azur this Thursday. 70 municipalities have been classified as a “natural disaster” zone in the valleys of Vésubie, Roya, Tinée and Var. Beyond reconstruction, it is therefore also necessary to tackle the future of the valleys.

“We want to revitalize, build sustainably so as not to experience this anymore”

The prefect of the valleys, explains on France Bleu Azur wishes in this sense to collect the ideas of the inhabitants. For this he therefore launches a consultation. To participate you can vote by clicking here. Otherwise there will also be public meetings with around fifty citizens drawn by lot: “on the online platform, we can react to the territorial diagnosis developed around the assets and Achilles heels of the valleys, we can then propose projects” explains the Prefect. Only specific issues will not be dealt with.

“In terms of equipment, resources, on all subjects, mobility, all themes are good to take”

And who will pay?

Xavier Pelletier details the funding. While the State has already mobilized more than five hundred million euros to repair, he specifies that there are European funds that can be mobilized.

“About a hundred million euros more to move forward”

It is therefore possible to carry out all projects according to the prefect. It may be the desire to create a school, a nursing home. The idea is to ensure that the valleys attract populations. For this we will also develop economic links with the Italian foothills.
