The prefect of Hérault returns to Saturday’s demonstration in Montpellier in support of the Palestinian people and denounces comments “advocating an act of terrorism“, reports France Bleu Hérault. François-Xavier Lauch contacted the Montpellier public prosecutor.
Licra (International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism) published this Sunday on its own X account a video filmed on the sidelines of this demonstration. We see a man who refers to the October 7 attack in Israel by Hamas as being a “act of resistance“.
For François-Xavier Lauch, prefect of Hérault, the comments made are “extremely serious“. He claims to have asked the organizers of the demonstration to “prevent this type of remarks“and regrets that”once again the commitments requested from the organizers have not been kept“.
The senator from Hérault, Hussein Bourgi (PS) has also decided to take legal action, just like Licra: “This public apology for terrorism, during a demonstration in Montpellier, will not remain without legal response” writes the association.
