The prefect of the North issued an expulsion order to Algeria from Sana, indicates France Bleu Nord on Tuesday October 10. This 24-year-old Roubaisian spent nine years in Syria before returning to France in January 2023. In 2014, when she was 14, her radicalized mother took her by force to Syria. Sana was born in France and has never been to Algeria.

On September 27, the departmental expulsion commission of the Lille court issued an unfavorable opinion on the expulsion of Sana. “The fact that she lived in a terrorist zone surrounded by jihadists advocating rigorous Islam does not allow us to deduce with certainty that she is committed to this cause and that she intends to in turn commit terrorist acts “the commission estimated.

“A serious threat”, according to the prefect

The prefect’s decision goes against this opinion. In his decree, consulted by France Bleu Nord, the prefect considers that the Northerner still represents “a serious threat”. According to him, the young woman grew up “within a family environment committed to pro-jihadist theses”. Prefect Georges-François Leclerc emphasizes that she “kept relations with other ghosts since his return” And “does not justify any insertion”.

Sana’s lawyer, Me Marie Dosé, announces to franceinfo that she will file an appeal before the administrative court of Lille. This appeal is suspensive. In the meantime, Sana is under house arrest in Lille.

Sana was taken to an area controlled by ISIS by her mother in 2014 with her siblings. The young girl from Roubaix was immediately married to a Belgian jihadist, with whom she had two daughters who were also repatriated to France. She hopes to be able to stay in France. She was born in the country but does not have nationality because her mother refused to ask her for it when she was a teenager, making her today an illegal Algerian national.
