Less than five months from the general election in Quebec, the race for funding is tight: the Parti Québécois (PQ) has just passed the Conservative Party (PCQ) of Éric Duhaime.
Traditional champion of popular financing, the PQ had been downgraded in recent months by the lightning rise of the PCQ. By the end of February, the PCQ had raised nearly $200,000 in two months.
However, according to recent data from Élections Québec, the PQ has collected $430,000 since January, while the PCQ follows closely with $428,000.
On the other hand, 7986 people contributed to the fund of the PCQ, while the effort was provided by 4188 donors to the PQ.
The Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ), the party in power, raised $392,000, with only 3,179 donors, so CAQ supporters are rather generous.
Québec solidaire received just over $300,000, while the Liberal Party of Québec (PLQ) brought up the rear among the parties represented in the National Assembly, with $168,000.
Remember that in this election year, under the law on the financing of political parties, each elector has the right to contribute up to a maximum of $200 to a party, whereas in a regular year, the contribution is capped. at $100.
