the Poult biscuit factory in Aire-sur-l’Adour will close definitively at the end of January

The Poult biscuit factory at Aire sur l’Adour, opened in the early 1990s, will close definitively at the end of January, announces Thursday, December 23 the management. This factory manufactures Breton pancakes and palm cookies, but since the health crisis, this site is no longer profitable. The Consumption habits have evolved since the first confinement, the French cook their own pastry.

47 employees concerned

After weeks of negotiations, a collective agreement was found at the end of November between the management and the unions, then validated in December by the State services. The 47 employees will be able if they wish to be reclassified at the headquarters of the factory in Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne). All will be compensated, promises management. But the Montauban site is two and a half hours from the Landes factory. Only 10% of employees would agree to make the trip according to the unions. Employees refusing to go to work in Montauban therefore risk being dismissed. Management assures us that they will be accompanied in their job search in the aturin basin.
