When the vaccine obligation against Covid-19 for health professionals turns into a local crisis … Among the 15,000 unvaccinated professionals already suspended or in the process of being suspended, is one of the three doctors from Pleudihen- sur-Rance, between Dinan and Saint-Malo. A town of 4,000 inhabitants already affected by medical desertification. The possible suspension of this doctor’s practice will upset the daily lives of his 1,500 very worried patients.
Despite the requests of the mayor and some of his patients, Doctor Françoise Van Dien, homeopathic doctor, is firm, she will not be vaccinated against Covid-19: “As far as I’m concerned, no way. I rely on my immunity and want my position to be respected. I am not anti-vaccination but against the fact that we force people to be vaccinated.”
Due to lack of time, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) has not yet suspended it but intends to apply the law. Therefore, the 1,500 patients of this dynamic sixty-year-old, some of whom live in the town’s nursing home, fear finding themselves without an attending physician. “We can no longer make an appointment with another doctor, they are already very busy, deplores a patient. We will be in municipalities in which people will no longer be treated and we will eventually encumber emergencies. ” For another patient, “There is this story of vaccines and Covid but for us it is a problem which is much deeper and older.”
“We see the doctors disappear one after the other. They are village or country doctors who do much more than office hours or who are able to travel.”
Not seeing a solution, the mayor of Pleudihen sent a letter to the Regional Health Agency to alert it to the situation: “We are in a population pool, today a little over 10,000 inhabitants, which ends up with only three doctors.” Patients of Dr. Van Dien have started a petition so that she can continue to practice. It now has 4,000 signatures, as many as the number of inhabitants of the town.
