We knew that for 48 hours, the Chamois Niortais club had made its choice regarding its new coach. Barring a last-minute change, it could well be Rui Almeida, an experienced technician with a well-stocked CV. The 52-year-old Portuguese coach knows Ligue 2 well. He took the reins of the red star in 2016, an explosive season when the promoted Ile-de-France player finished fifth.
Then passed on the benches of the SC Bastiaof Troyes and of CaenRui Almeida had had a brief stint in Portuguese D1 with the club Gil Vicente in 2020. He had notably crossed there the former Niortais Antoine Leautey. His last two experiences having come to an end, the Portuguese coach (announced in contact at the beginning of the summer with Lorient) will undoubtedly be keen to take his revenge with Niort.
