the port lights up every evening for the Route du Rhum

Let the party begin and it will take place night and day in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) for the start of the Route du Rhum. While the 138 boats in the solo transat have taken their places in the port and the village has just opened, the company Spectaculars, whose head office is located in Saint-Thurial (Ille-et-Vilaine), produced a lighting of the basins, the spire of the cathedral, but also a scenography on the ramparts of the corsair city. The premiere took place on Tuesday, October 25.

“We need to dream”

Accustomed to poetic, playful and inventive lighting of cathedrals, town halls or historical monuments in France and around the world, the company Spectaculars is adapting its creative spirit this time to one of the greatest sailing races. As during the 2018 edition, it offers a whole play of light around the boats installed along the pontoons of the Vauban basin. On the ramparts, projections will retrace the great hours of the Route du Rhum since its creation in 1978. New for this 2022 edition, the spire of the cathedral of Saint-Malo will also change color depending on the wind”when the wind is north there will be a blue color on the arrow, when the wind is south it will be red, green for east and setting sun for west“explains Benoit Quéro, founder and director of Spectaculars”it is an element of communication to be shared with everyone. We also need color in this period, we need to dream a little“.

Energy efficient

Benoit Quéro specifies that this lighting is energy efficient “we were very careful to stay within a very reasonable energy consumption. This has been our credo for more than 10 years and we continue to embody it here”.

The visit to the village will be a very nice event, the evening one is yet another -Benoit Quéro
