In Lagos (Nigeria), long queues in front of petrol stations have become the norm. A chaos caused by the announcement of the end of fuel subsidies. “We are all frustrated and very angry. Me, I arrived last night to refuel. I’ve been here for 18 hours, I can’t go back. How are we going to get out of this?“, worries a man. The situation is the same throughout the country. Last week, a full tank cost an average of 185 naira, or 0.4 dollars. Its price has increased threefold.
Already high inflation on food products
An unacceptable increase for Nigerians, who are already suffering from high food inflation. “If they sell gasoline at that price, how do you expect people to eat properly? Sacrifices, we have already made enough. With a monthly salary of 65 dollars, what are we going to do now to have a dignified life?“, laments a motorist.
