It’s not a comeback, but a slight improvement. The popularity ratings of Emmanuel Macron and Elisabeth Borne are rebounding after the battle over the pension reform which had plagued the executive, according to a BVA poll for RTL published on Friday May 26. The Head of State regains 6 points with 32% of French people having a “good opinion” of him, explains the institute, according to which Emmanuel Macron “comes out of the trough in which he was after the sequence retreats”. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne takes up five points of positive opinion, at 32%, according to this barometer.

Respondents were also asked about immigration, at the heart of a bill expected by the summer. Nearly 69% of French people questioned say they “concerned” by immigration, even if the subject only ranks sixth in their priorities (24%), far behind purchasing power (56%), health (38%) and safety (32%) . Two-thirds (67%) also consider that there is “too many immigrants” in France and only 43% that immigration is “a chance for France”. However, a majority (60%) recognize that “immigrants are victims of discrimination”.
