The popular primary “is a losing machine”, said Wednesday on franceinfo MEP Yannick Jadot, EELV candidate for the presidential election. It’s a process “where there is no question of ideas, no debate”, laments Yannick Jadot. He notes that, for him, Jean-Luc Mélenchon “and others, our name is imposed against our will”. If he hears “the desire to unite” implied by the popular primary, he specifies that he has “always called to the rally”. But according to him, “it must be done on ideas and on a project.”

Yannick Jadot judges that the organizers of the popular primary “have established themselves as a new renewal of political thought”. He wonders about his “animators” and “how they manage to deceive a lot of sincere voters”.

“They want to prevent us from campaigning.”

On Tuesday, the popular Primary claimed more than 288,000 registered voters for the “investiture” vote which will take place from January 27 to 30 to designate the candidate it will support among seven personalities. This figure is already the highest of the primaries that have taken place, surpassing the environmentalist primary in September (122,000) and the Republican congress in early December (nearly 140,000).

“We’ve been debating for a year, we’ve been preparing a project for a year”, insists Yannick Jadot. “We are credible, we govern cities”. The EELV candidate specifies that there will be “this great European meeting with ten ministers who participate in governments, with parliamentary colleagues”. “Let us talk about our proposals”, argues Yannick Jadot. “Let them stop bothering us, let us win. Let the popular primary stop killing the left and ecology. Let them win this presidential election.”
