If the Ten Ten application is popular on teenagers’ phones, the Ministry of the Interior has broadcast a prevention message on its use.

A new application for young people is in the government’s sights. The spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Overseas Territories, Camille Chaize, warned of the dangers that Ten Ten represented. This French app, which is among the most downloaded on Android and the AppStore, transforms phones into walkie-talkies. It is very popular with middle and high school students and allows its user to send messages to their friends read over loudspeaker, even when their phone is locked.

But Ten Ten’s privacy policy worries the government, including automatic retrieval of each user’s IP addresses and location. Another sensitive point: the risk of cyberharassment and intrusion into private life. The executive specifically advises teens to turn off notifications at night and in quiet places, like school.
