Pope Francis is a good pastor, but he does not shine in international relations. His latest blunder in this area relates to the war between Ukraine and Russia. The pontiff said Ukraine must have the courage to raise the white flag and negotiate with Russia. […] But why didn’t he also ask the Russians to raise this flag? Would he have become a disciple of Chamberlain and Daladier, ready to negotiate with Hitler (Munich Accords of 1938) to avoid another war in Europe? Has he forgotten the opinion of his predecessor John XXIII who believed that there could be no peace without justice? There will be peace only when Russians fully respect Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty. In this war, the aggressor is Russia, and it is up to Russia to do what it must. International law is very clear on this subject. It’s up to the Pope not to ignore it.
