Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit, the Vatican announced Thursday, December 2 in a statement. At the end of November, Michel Aupetit had handed in his resignation to the Pope after being accused in the press of having had an intimate relationship with a woman, which he categorically denied.
“I was, of course, greatly disturbed by the attacks against me”, reacted the person concerned in a press release. “I ask forgiveness from those I could have hurt and assure you all of my deep friendship and my prayers, which will always be yours.”
“I admit that my behavior towards her may have been ambiguous, thus suggesting the existence between us of an intimate relationship and sexual relations, which I strongly refute”, declared Michel Aupetit in the article of Point having revealed the case. He added to have “decided not to see her again” and have it “informed”.
