From the height of his 88 years, Brigitte Bardot has known joys but also sorrows. One event in particular could have filled her with happiness, it is the birth of his son Nicolas-Jacques in 1960. The latter is the fruit of his relationship with the actor Jacques Charlier, whom she married in 1959. He is their only son.
She was not made for children
However, when he came into the world, the young Nicolas-Jacques, did not manage to receive all the love he deserved. This is what explains Jean-Jacques Standing in his autobiography The Color of Ghosts (Talent editions) released on October 26 and dedicated to Brigitte Bardot, to whom he is very close. According to him, the birth of BB’s son “complicated the relationship between Jacques Charrier and Brigitte Bardot, because he reproached him for not taking care of it (…) Brigitte had told her that she was not made for children. Of course, she loved her son. But she didn’t deal with it like a mother. You know, it’s very hard to be Brigitte Bardot and to manage a child all day. It is even almost impossible (…) The poor kid started his life badly, without seeing his mother, taken by his career.
Custody of her son entrusted to her ex-husband Jacques
In the early 1960s, Brigitte Bardot was at the peak of her career. It is also highly publicized. It is therefore difficult for her to lead a peaceful family life, as she informed the Parisian in 2021: “I had a child, but you can’t say that this child, the poor thing, came at the right time and gave me what I needed. I needed a lot of support, I needed parents, parents. people who help me to live. I didn’t have that. Besides, I wanted to kill my life many times because it didn’t suit me.”
Brigitte Bardot finally decided to give custody of her son to her ex-husband Jacques who, according to Jean-Jacques Debout “had transferred his love for her to their child”. But above all, for the husband of Chantal Goya, Jacques Charrier “would have screwed up” without the presence of his son.
