The truce between Israel and Hamas was short-lived. While Israel has resumed its military operations and bombings in Gaza, both camps blame each other. “We have the impression that Israel has learned nothing from the reactions of international public opinion to the terrible damage committed during the first part of this war,” declares General Vincent Desportes, former director of the War school and professor at Sciences Po and HEC. According to him, Benjamin Netanyahu needs to lead a “hard and long war” to “redeem from the bankruptcy of October 7″, but, he indicates, this does not excuse “the triple humanitarian, moral and strategic catastrophe”.

A peace that fades away to the rhythm of bombings

Vincent Desportes considers that the only way out is “the political solution”. “Today’s bombings are creating tens of thousands of future terrorists, who will only care about the destruction of Israel.”, he continues. No solution possible “apart from a vision of the future”, insists the general. But for him, this “possibility of peace which recedes infinitely” as Israel continues its operations.
