The police officer who shot Nahel in Nanterre on June 27, 2023 was not in danger, said Monday May 6 on RTL Nabil Boudi, the lawyer for the mother of the 17-year-old teenager, the day after a reconstruction facts leading to Nahel’s death. “The reconstruction was based on the videos. What we see on the videos is that the police officer was not in danger. Consequently, the use of his weapon was not necessary”says Nabil Boudi.

This video, posted on social networks, shows the two police officers on the side of the vehicle, pointing their weapons at the driver. One of them shoots him as the vehicle starts again. The car then crashed into a concrete block, a few dozen meters further on. Its publication, a few hours after Nahel’s death, invalidated the police version, which said that the young man had rushed into the biker.

Brigadier Florian M. is indicted for intentional homicide. The police maintained that they were in danger of death because they were trapped between the car and a wall. Recalling that the initial version of the police had evolved, Nabil Boudi called “everyone to draw the consequences” of this version change. According to him, his client, Mounia, experienced a moment “particularly painful” since she was in the presence of the police during the reenactment on Sunday, but “There was a measure of relief for her.”
