The Paris police headquarters sent a message on mobile phones on Monday evening May 13 relating to the security perimeter of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the Ministry of the Interior told Agence Radio France. This message, accompanied by a very loud ringtone, was sent via the FR-Alert device.

At 8 p.m., a “extremely serious alert” was displayed on cell phones in an area “very specific”. The Paris police headquarters explains that the message was sent to phones located on “the security perimeter of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games from July 18 to 26 inclusive”as indicated in the message received.

The Ministry of the Interior confirms that this is“information disseminated widely for an exceptional event, disseminated in the impacted area”. “It is an alert sent to the security perimeters and their surroundings to widely inform of the opening of the platform to obtain a QR code in order to enter the perimeter from July 18 to 26”adds the ministry.
