New day of pro-Palestinian mobilizations in French schools and universities. In the afternoon of Monday May 6, the police dislodged “80 people having settled on the public highway in front of Sciences Po Paris”, announced the prefecture. “All the people were evicted peacefully,” she added.

A student at Sciences Po, member of the Palestine Committee and who did not wish to give her name, spoke to AFP about a “peaceful gathering which lasted two hours”before “the police intervene” to evacuate the demonstrators and three tents.

At Reims, “There was a blockage at Sciences Po, the exams could not take place for the 500 first year students (out of a total of approximately 1,000 students)”, indicated the management of the establishment. Exams will have to be rescheduled.

In Strasbourg, the building which houses the premises of the journalism school (Cuej) was blocked by students who denounce the “media treatment” of the situation in Gaza, according to a statement from the students.

A high school case stuck at midday

High school students were also called on Monday to mobilize for Gaza. At the national level, the Ministry of Education recorded at midday “a dozen situations including a single blockage, a few attempts and calm demonstrations around high schools”. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin asked prefects on Sunday evening to systematically grant the use of public force to heads of establishments who request it in the event of a blockage or occupation.

In the Montpellier academy (Hérault), around thirty students established a “filtering” at the entrance to the Geneviève de Gaulle-Anthonioz high school in Milhaud (Gard), according to the rectorate. Finally, in the Créteil academy (Val-de-Marne), the rectorate specified that demonstrations had taken place in front of “two high schools out of 228”.
