The Bordeaux judicial police launched a call for witnesses on Wednesday March 22 in order to find those who crossed paths with Philippe Dubois, a detainee who escaped on March 13 from Mauzac-et-Grand Castang prison (Dordogne) before to be arrested on March 15 in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), reports France Bleu Périgord.

The police are looking in particular for the young man who had picked up the escaped detainee hitchhiking near the detention center and who had taken him to Périgueux on Monday March 13 between 12 and 2 p.m. Investigators are also looking for people who were in contact with Philippe Dubois during his two days on the run.

Philippe Dubois, 54, escaped from Mauzac prison while serving a 28-year sentence for murder and armed robbery in Nice in 2002. He was convicted on appeal in 2008. During these trials, at the assizes and on appeal, Philippe Dubois had been defended in particular by the current Keeper of the Seals, Master Eric Dupond-Moretti.
