The Poitevine publishing house Flblb will be at the Angoulême festival

The Angoulême festival is an event not to be missed for Grégory Jarry, author and publisher of comic books at Flblb. For four days the world of comics is under the spotlight and the small publishing house takes advantage of this great visibility. Each year the editions sell between 1000 and 2000 albums on its stand. But this visibility comes at a cost. Grégory Jarry generally believes that “The Angoulême festival is almost a white operation. That is to say that the money invested is covered by sales”

Two albums in selection

This year, two books from the house are selected. Jerome from Alphagraph, from Nylso, in the Heritage selection and The End of July, by Maria Rostocka, in the official category and in the fauve category of high school students. The author will also travel from Poland to attend the meeting of drawing enthusiasts.

Flblb comics reunite “almost every year in selection”, rejoices the editor. He is also very grateful to the festival “which shows the diversity of national but also international comics” and who does not hesitate to highlight “small houses as well as big ones.”

The year of the photo novel

For its 20th anniversary, Flblb has decreed that 2022 will be the year of the photo novel. The opportunity to showcase Julie Chapallaz’s latest album, The deflagration of the bushes. The editions have also entrusted the decoration of the stand to the author for this edition. The photo novel will first be available in bookstores because the postponement of the date prevents them from promoting the album in Angoulême.

Despite the Covid, however, 2022 looks promising for Flblb.
