Arnaud Garcia would soon become a father. This agent died on Tuesday May 14 in the attack on a prison van in Eure. France Télévisions met his father, Dominique Garcia. He delivers a moving testimony.

It is a worthy man that the France Télévisions teams met on the afternoon of Wednesday May 15. Dominique Garcia is a former police officer, used to dealing with tragedies. But the day before, it was his life as a father that changed. 24 hours after the attack on a prison van in which his son, Arnaud Garcia, died, he still refuses to see the videos and questions the necessity of this inmate transfer.

Arnaud Garcia knew his job. A prison officer for 15 years, he was proud because he had just been promoted to ensure prisoner transfers. “It was worse than a vocation, he put his all into it, and he enjoyed what he was doing. He had met some very good colleagues, with whom he got along very well. So, he was happy to live”, his father recalls. At 34, Arnaud Garcia leaves behind a wife, Marie, five months pregnant, and distraught parents. “He was my only son, we had already lost a daughter before him”, says his father, very moved. Dominique Garcia hopes that the fugitives will be arrested as quickly as possible.
