The many faithful of Florent Pagny could not miss this appointment. This Sunday, January 1, TF1 broadcast at 1:40 p.m. the documentary Florent Pagny, a free man, directed by his friend Michel Jankielewicz.

Since last January, remember that the interpreter of “My freedom to think” is waging a heavy fight against the disease. The singer, who recently celebrated his 61st birthday on November 6, revealed on Instagram that he had lung cancer: “I’ve just been diagnosed with a lung tumor, a not very sympathetic cancerous tumor that can’t be operated on, so I have to go into a six-month protocol of chemotherapy and X-rays. I’m not going to be able to finish the tour, I have to cancel all of my concerts”had announced the artist, thus forced to put his career and his tour on hold.

In an interview with Télé Loisirs, his longtime friend Michel Jankielewicz confided in the reasons and the circumstances of this vibrant documentary which begins in November 2021, during the sudden stop of the tour of Florent Pagny. “We started filming in Bordeaux on November 6, 2021, the day of his 60th birthday. And we were overtaken by his illness. Lots of people have asked us why we keep making this documentary. We were told that we were doing his obituary… Florent told me to continue, he didn’t want anything to stop. He said to me: I am going to fight not to die, you continue what you had started. I told what I was going through with my friend”, he related.

In the process, the relative of the artist wants to be reassuring about the state of health of the singer. “He will resume his tour in 2023, it’s a sign that everything is fine. He’s a fighter, Florent. Nothing stops him. And I’m going to continue my documentary where I stopped. We’re going to do a another movie together”, he assures.
