A six-year-old Palestinian girl was found dead on Saturday February 10 in Gaza. When her loved ones had just died and she was injured in a car on January 29, she managed to notify emergency services, but in vain. The recording of his poignant appeal has since gone around the world.
She was a child who loved to play princess while humming. But on January 29, his voice on the phone was pleading. Hind Rajab, six years old, calls for help from the Palestinian Red Crescent from a cell phone. She is stuck in a car that has just come under fire in Gaza City. At the end of the line, the Palestinian Red Crescent volunteers are not in Gaza, and it takes time for them to contact their teams there and send an ambulance.
Was the ambulance targeted?
Near Hind, in the car, his uncle and aunt died. One of her cousins, Lyian, 15, also speaks to the rescuers when the worst happens. “There’s a tank, it’s shooting at us!”, exclaims Lyian. The cousin dies. Hind is hurt and begs for three more hours on the phone. The ambulance finally arrives.A pile of sheet metal remains of this ambulance. Was she targeted? The rescuers died 100 meters from the girl, who succumbed to her injuries in a car riddled with bullets. The Red Crescent blames the Israelis. The IDF says it has no information about the girl’s death.
