The Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ) will not ask for a recount after losing the riding of Verdun to Quebec solidaire (QS) on Monday.

“After analyzing the results during the counting at the returning officer in Verdun today, we decided not to resort to a judicial recount”, indicates Maxime Roy, director of communications for the PLQ.
The Liberals initially refused to concede victory in this Montreal riding and a meeting with the returning officer was to take place this morning.
This puts a definitive end to the suspense for the solidarity candidate Alejandra Zaga Mendez, who won by 461 votes over the outgoing Liberal MP Isabelle Melançon.
