The PLQ wants to encourage older workers to keep their jobs

The Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) wants to fight the labor shortage by encouraging experienced and retired workers to stay in the labor force through measures, the annual value of which is estimated at $500 million.

The PLQ wants to increase the basic tax exemption for workers aged 65 and over, from $15,000 to $30,000. This could represent $2,000 more directly in their pockets, estimates the PLQ. The annual cost of these measures represents $500 million for the Quebec state.

A Liberal government would put an end to contributions to the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) for workers aged 62 and over, with no impact on the pensions they will receive upon retirement. This can bring up to $3,000 in savings for an employee and $6,000 for a self-employed worker, the training assesses.

Leader Dominique Anglade continues her electoral tour in Abitibi-Témiscamingue on Saturday.
