The PLQ refuses to concede victory in Verdun

Liberal incumbent Isabelle Melançon, who lost by more than 500 votes to Québec solidaire in her riding, refuses to concede victory, because her party believes that there are “boxes [de votes] problematic”.

“We have a representative who is at the returning officer of Verdun, so all that is being evaluated,” indicated to the Log Andréanne Moreau, communications manager for Isabelle Melançon’s campaign.

According to her, there would be “boxes [de vote] problematic”. “That’s all I got for information. It won’t end tonight, that’s for sure,” said M.me Moreau.

The M teamme Melançon said it was too early to call for a recount or not.

The race which was extremely tight between Quebec Solidaire is coming to an end in Verdun, while Alejandra Zaga Mendez holds a lead of 537 votes with 159 polling stations counted out of 162.
