The party confirmed the information on Sunday, on the sidelines of the party convention which is being held in Quebec all weekend, with a view to setting the table to specify the main directions of the liberal platform during the next general election, next October. .

Mme Nolet, a 35-year-old university researcher, is a newcomer to politics.

The date of the poll is not yet known.

Based on past elections, Mr.me Nolet has little chance of being elected, because traditionally Marie-Victorin has been a riding for a long time acquired by the Parti Québécois (PQ), which this time features former NDP MP Pierre Nantel.

Premier François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) has not yet announced who will represent it, and neither has Québec solidaire (QS).

The complementary election in Marie-Victorin is made necessary, due to the resignation of the former PQ member, then independent, Catherine Fournier, who chose to pursue her political career at the municipal level, by being elected a few years ago. weeks at Longueuil town hall.

In 2018, the Liberals were ranked fourth in Marie-Victorin, with only 15% of the vote. The PQ ranked first with a slim majority of 705 votes and 30.8% of the vote, closely followed by the CAQ, with 28.3% of the vote and QS, a good third with 21% of support.
