A stage dedicated to sprinters. The day after the first mountain day of the Tour de France, marked by Tadej Pogacar’s coup de force on the Col du Galibier, the peloton tackles a calmer course on a flat 177.4 km route, between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Saint-Vulbas, on Wednesday July 3. This stage has only two fourth category climbs, and should therefore suit the sprinters, with fairly wide roads at the finish.
Tadej Pogacar, who recovered the yellow jersey during the 4th stage, should not be threatened. The Belgians Jasper Philipsen and Arnaud de Lie will be the favorites of the sprint expected in the streets of Saint-Vulbas. Winner of the 3rd stage in the sprint, Biniam Girmay hopes to do it again, while on the French side we expect Bryan Coquard and Arnaud Démare.
