In the Dauphiné, the mountain to be moved on the Criterium has a name: Jonas Vingegaard. The winner of the last Tour de France, discreet since the start of the season (3rd in Paris-Nice, winner of the Tour of the Basque Country), is back in the saddle a few weeks before the next Grande Boucle, Sunday June 4. The Dane will have a lot to do on this Critérium du Dauphiné 2023 which starts this Sunday from Chambon-sur-Lac, with a five-star field.
On the program for Julian Alaphilippe, Egan Bernal and David Gaudu: a 158 km loop in the Monts du Puy de Dome, with a drop of 2,860 m around the Monts d’Or. Five fourth category climbs are thus planned, including the triple climb of the Côte du Rocher de l’Aigle in the final circuit (1 km at 7.3%), before arriving on the shores of Lac Chambon.
