The Adventures of the Dog Patrol is broadcast in 160 countries and is available in nine seasons. The second adaptation of the cartoon to the cinema has already sold more than 1.6 million tickets in France.
The Super Patrolsecond adaptation of the cartoon Paw Patrol at the cinema, has unsurprisingly been a hit in French cinemas since its release on October 11. Further proof that the series remains a phenomenon among children, ten years after its debut.
Paw Patrol, What exactly does it say? Malo, five years old, presents the characters: “There is Marcus, Ruben, Rocky or Chase, Stella. They are talking dogs who go on missions to fight bad guys”. A canine brigade, in which everyone plays a well-defined role: firefighter, policeman, rescuer who are called at the slightest problem, more or less serious. The cartoon teaches children mutual aid and the notion of danger, the optimists will say, or instills in them a safety rhetoric for its detractors. Malo’s favorite character, “It’s Chase, he said, because I like police officers so much.”
74 million euros in turnover in 2022
With more than 220 episodes spread over nine seasons and broadcast in 160 countries, but also two animated feature films (the first in 2021 grossed more than $140 million worldwide), Paw Patrol is no longer even a phenomenon, it is a real multinational.
Without forgetting that the franchise is also there, and even above all, to sell toys and other derivative products, to the tune of 74 million euros in turnover for the year 2022 alone. Idea of genius or mercantile cynicism? We asked Simon, Malo’s dad.“I think we already had that in a certain way with certain licenses when we were small like Knights of the Zodiac, he said. But not of this magnitude and especially not so soon. As soon as they are three or four years old, we need trucks, we need vehicles. They dive in.”
And since Malo has a little sister, and the tenth season of the Paw Patrol is currently being broadcast, the family knows what will happen. “She knows their names by heart, replies Simon. She watches cartoons next to her brother. So I think we are entering a new cycle.”.
