A 17-year-old teenager died on Saturday December 9 after refusing to obey on a scooter in Seine-et-Marne during the night from Friday to Saturday, announced the Meaux prosecutor’s office. The vital prognosis of the 17-year-old scooter driver also remains compromised for the moment, the 17-year-old passenger has died.

A chase took place over approximately two kilometers between Neuilly-sur-Marne, in Seine-Saint-Denis and Chelles, in Seine-et-Marne. Friday evening, shortly after 11 p.m., the anti-crime brigade (BAC) of Neuilly-sur-Marne wanted “check a scooter whose driver had just run a red light”relates the prosecution, but the driver “ran away”.

Two open investigations

Arriving in the town of Chelles, the scooter driver tried “to avoid vehicles stopped at a red light” And “changed lanes in front of the BAC vehicle”. The prosecution specifies that after this, the scooter lost grip on the road then came under a vehicle stopped at a traffic light.

The two occupants of the two-wheeler, two young men aged 17, found themselves trapped under the stationary car. The scooter landed a few meters away.“In the state of the first investigations and in particular the exploitation of video surveillance of the town of Chelles and the recording of a camera worn by a police officer, it would seem that there was no contact between the scooter and the BAC vehicle”according to the Meaux public prosecutor’s office.

Two investigations were opened by the prosecution: one for refusal to comply, the other for homicide and unintentional injuries, entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN), the prosecutor said in a press release.
