“The party was ruined. One person out of 42,000 was enough to spoil the party. I find that quite regrettable”, reacted Friday, June 2, on franceinfo, Pierre Hurmic, the mayor of Bordeaux, after the stoppage of the Ligue 2 match Bordeaux-Rodez. During this match counting for the last day of the championship, a spectator descended on the lawn and jostled Lucas Buade, a player from Rodez who had just opened the scoring.

Pierre Hurmic shares his “great disappointment”while the match “had started well, a real sporting competition” which was announced “quite promising”. He denounces “an irresponsible behavior that is not significant of what the Girondins public is”.
Fearing that the players of Rodez will not return to the field after the interruption of the match, the mayor of Bordeaux went to meet the president of Rodez Aveyron Football, Pierre-Olivier Murat, to tell him, “You don’t win a match like that by refusing to step onto the pitch”. According to Pierre Hurmic, Pierre-Olivier Murat answered him “in a very sporty way” : “the decision is not ours, the decision is in the hands of the referee”. The mayor of Bordeaux assures that the president of Rodez denied having had “the intention to resume the match”adding, “I am a sportsman, I prefer to win the match sportingly than in these conditions”.
