As an alternative to the third road link between Quebec and Lévis, the Parti Québécois suggests financing an underwater light train to the tune of $4 to $5 billion.
Like the third link of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ), the project would connect the two city centers by passing under the river. But the passage would be exclusively reserved for public transport.
The project bears the signature of Jeanne Robin, Parti Québécois candidate in Taschereau and former director of the organization Vivre en ville.
In addition to allowing people to go from one city to another without a car, the light rail would also have a line linking downtown Quebec City to the northwest of the capital, to the Lebourgneuf sector, which is experiencing a significant population boom for fifteen years. The “Lévis-Québec-Lebourgneuf line” (LQL) project would have a capacity of 6,000 passengers per hour; its course would be about 15 kilometers long.

Earlier this week, Québec solidaire had also presented to the population a public transport project to connect the two shores of the St. Lawrence, namely a rapid bus service (SRB) using the Pont de Québec.
