The Paris prosecutor’s office requires the referral to the criminal court of Christophe Ruggia for sexual assault, franceinfo learned on Thursday, February 8, from a source close to the case, confirming information from RMC.

Director Christophe Ruggia was indicted on January 16, 2020 for sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor by a person having authority over Adèle Haenel. He had been placed under judicial supervision with an obligation to provide care, an obligation to notify the judge of trips outside the territory, and a ban on meeting the actress Adèle Haenel. During his police custody, Christophe Ruggia was briefly confronted with the latter. It is now up to the investigating judge to decide whether or not to send Christophe Ruggia to criminal custody.

“Touching” and acts of “sexual harassment”

The actress filed a complaint after revealing in the press “touching” and facts of “sexual harassment” when she was 12 to 15 years old. Heard by investigators on November 26, 2019 and December 2, 2019, she explained that these are “public denials” by Christophe Ruggia who have it “determined to obtain judicial recognition of her victim status”.

The filmmaker, now 59 years old, initially denied any aggression, however admitting to having “made the mistake of playing the pygmalion”. He asked the actress for forgiveness before counterattacking in the pages of the Marianne newspaper, claiming that the actress was taking revenge because he had refused her a film.
