Notice to Terminale high school students and students repeating their first year: this is the penultimate day to express your wishes on Parcoursup. After midnight on Thursday March 13, it will be too late. It is always a stressful time for young people and their families, sometimes a little lost in this higher education environment. To help them, professionals answer all questions via a free toll-free number: 0 800 400 070.
One of the seven national telephone platforms is located in Amiens, in the Somme. Since the start of this last week of the Parcoursup campaign, there has been excitement: the calls have not stopped. From 4,000 per week at national level in normal times, we increase to 20,000 during important dates. Léa Dury is one of the 50 people answering this toll-free number. She knows every detail of the Parcoursup site: “You can ask me any question, I can answer them! I know it by heart, with its updates, it’s important to specify that.”
“I only have parents calling!”
In recent days, most calls concern requests for details on dates: “Even though it’s written, they need to have this question a little more personal and ask it to us.” And between parents and children the most stressed are obviously the parents, assures Léa. “The student is so supported by the teachers that he already knows. I only have parents calling!”
All the questions asked are then summarized and sent back to the Ministry of Higher Education, which can, depending on its function, decide to communicate on a specific aspect on the site directly or on social networks.
This telephone platform is the voice and the ear of Parcoursup, analyzes Claire Platel, she coordinates this toll-free number: “It’s a need to have a voice, a human, to confirm information that is present on the site, that teachers, teachers give. But they need to have a human voice that reassures them. C “is very important for them. It’s really a matter of reassurance.” Last year, one in eight candidates requested this Parcoursup toll-free number.
